High-Level Stakeholder Meeting at ALECSO recommends setting up a specialized scientific committee to draw up Arabic language promotion strategies

Participants in the High-Level Stakeholder Meeting for launching the implementation phase of the project of developing a Common Framework of Reference for the Arabic Language, which concluded on October 31, 2023, recommended setting up a specialized scientific committee to be in charge of drawing up joint Arab strategies designed to strengthen the status of the Arabic language for native and non-native speakers.

At the conclusion of the two-day meeting organized by ALECSO, Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director-General of ALECSO, commended the keen efforts of all participants to harmonize ideas and initiatives and turn them into concrete actions aimed at promoting the status of the Arabic language. He stressed the need to pursue work in all Arab countries in order to enhance and upgrade educational curricula, and not to consider the Framework of Reference as an alternative.

Participants recommended benefiting from relevant studies conducted in Arab countries, developing an integrated outreach plan, implementing a pilot phase of the project, and leveraging modern technologies to serve the Arabic language and enhance its status for  current and future generations.
