Preparations for the first in-person coordination meeting of the joint Arab inscription file “Oud: Practices, Skills and Performing Arts” began on September 26, 2023, in Baghdad, Iraq, and continued till September 29, 2023.
The preparation of the “Oud” file for inscription on the UNESCO List of Intangible Cultural Heritage is led by the Republic of Iraq, under the supervision of ALECSO, and with the participation of 17 Arab countries.
During the meeting, a presentation was made about the file and the steps so far undertaken. Presentations were also made by the countries involved the preparation of the file;
The representative of ALECSO, Dr. Fethi Jerray, expressed his thanks and gratitude to the Republic of Iraq for hosting this major cultural event and its willingness to promote joint Arab cultural action. He also commended the efforts exerted by the Department of Public Cultural Relations in the preparation of the inscription file in accordance with the relevant requirements.
