ALECSO attends Lexicon Industry Forum in Riyadh

 

The Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization participated in the Lexicon Industry Forum, organized by King Salman International Academy for the Arabic Language in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on September 28-29, 2023. 

The Forum was attended by the heads of Arab language academies, along with researchers and linguists from Egypt, UAE, Iraq, Algeria, Lebanon, Qatar, Jordan, Mauritania, Tunisia, Sudan, Pakistan, Chad, India, Malaysia and Morocco.

On the sidelines of the Forum, the digital version of Riyadh Lexicon of Contemporary Arabic vocabulary was launched. It includes more than 120 thousand lexical entries and over 400 million words. Several scientific teams specialized in modern lexicography, computer technologies, and computational linguistics contributed to the preparation of the Lexicon.

The Forum featured scientific sessions that discussed aspects of the unilingual, bilingual, and multilingual lexicon industry, and reviewed the institutional efforts made in this regard. 

ALECSO was represented at this event by Dr. Abdelfattah Lahjomri, Director of the Rabat-based Arabization Coordination Bureau, and Dr. Ali Al-Naeem, Director of the Khartoum International Institute for the Arabic Language.
