26th session of the Conference on Archeology and Cultural Heritage   in the Arab World kicks off in Morocco

 

 

The 26th session of the “Conference on Archeology and Cultural Heritage in the Arab World”, organized in cooperation with the Moroccan Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication, kicked off in Fez, Morocco, on September 20, 2023, under the theme of “Cultural Heritage in the National Policies of Arab Countries.”

The opening session of this Conference started with the recitation of Surat Al-Fatihah in tribute to the memory of the victims of the deadly earthquake in Morocco and the massive floods in Libya.

The Conference was attended by representatives from Arab countries, regional and international organizations, and the Moroccan National Commission for Education, Science and Culture, in addition to a number of Arab experts.

During the opening session, the chairmanship of the Conference was handed over from the Islamic Republic of Mauritania to the Kingdom of Morocco. Official statements were then delivered, followed by a group photo. 

As part of this event, participants visited an exhibition of valuable Moroccan manuscripts and an exhibition of Moroccan heritage classified as world heritage.
