The Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (Department of Science and Scientific Research) held, on August 29, 2023, the 6th Meeting of the Standing Advisory Committee for Scientific Research and Innovation, with the participation of the Committee’s Members from various Arab countries.
The aim of the meeting was to set broad lines for the work of the Committee for the period 2024 – 2025.
In his opening remarks, Dr. Mohammed Sanad Abu Darwish, Director of Science and Scientific Research, conveyed the greetings of H.E. Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director-General of ALECSO, to the members of the Committee, and his wishes of success for the meeting.
Dr. Abu Darwish stated that ALECSO is keen to contribute to the advancement of scientific research, innovation and entrepreneurship in the Arab world, and is making continued efforts to enhance the scientific research and innovation system and link it to economic development in the Arab countries.
The meeting involved two working sessions. In the first session, Dr. Abu Darwish presented the periodic follow-up report on the work of the Committee. The second session was devoted to the presentation of a model for preparing projects for the financial cycle 2025-2026. These projects are designed to enhance the role of Arab scientific research, promote higher education and scientific research, and achieve a green economy.
The members of the Committee were also briefed on the “Arab Camp for Talented and Innovative Youth”, to be hosted by Oman on October 26-28, 2023.
