The Prime Minister of the Republic of Djibouti, H.E. Mr. Abdoulkader Kamil Mohamed, received, on August 23, 2023, the ALECSO delegation, consisting of Dr. Fathi Jerray, Heritage Expert, and Mr. Abdelhadi Ghemari, Coordinator of Activities at the Culture Department.
The ALECSO delegation is on a visit to Djibouti to supervise the preparation of the joint Arab inscription file on “Customs and Traditions related to Traditional Marriage in the Arab World,” led by Djibouti with the participation of other Arab countries.
The ALECSO delegation conveyed the greetings and thanks of H.E. Director-General Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, to the Prime Minister, and through him, to H.E. the President of the Republic of Djibouti, for the support provided by the Prime Minister and his Government to the Director-General and to ALECSO.
The Delegation expressed, on this occasion, ALECSO’s readiness to provide full support to Djibouti in the fields of education, culture, science, ICT, and, more particularly, in the inscription of the largest number of Djibouti’s tangible and intangible cultural heritage elements.
The ALECSO delegation indicated that the Director-General is keen to provide scholarships for outstanding Djiboutian students in some Arab countries, to boost cooperation in all fields, especially in the cultural sector, and to open up promising prospects for strategic partnership between ALECSO and Djibouti. The meeting touched on other issues related to heritage protection and training in cultural fields.
For his part, the Prime Minister expressed his thank to ALECSO and its Director-General for all the efforts exerted to promote the fields of education, culture, science, and ICT and to protect tangible and intangible cultural heritage in the Arab countries.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the Prime Minister extended an invitation to the Director General of ALECSO to visit Djibouti in the close future to discuss ways of further enhancing cooperation between the two parties.
