ALECSO participates in the first Summer University of the International Network for the Study of Arab Societies

 

The Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization participated in the activities of the First Summer University of the International Network for the Study of Arab Societies, which kicked off on August 12, 2023 in Sousse, Tunisia, and continued until August 16, 2020. This Summer University, themed “Transformation Issues in Current Arab Societies”, was attended by representatives from the Offices of  Konrad Adenauer Foundation in Tunisia and Algeria as well as from Arab and international scientific institutions. Participants also included experts, academics, university presidents, and doctoral students from Tunisia, Algeria, Libya, Mauritania, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Italy, Turkey and Germany.

In his statement at the opening session, H.E. Dr. Mohamed Sanad Abu Darwish, Director of Science and Scientific Research, conveyed the greetings of H.E. Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director-General of ALECSO, and his wishes for the success of this event. He stressed that ALECSO remains engaged to finding practical solutions to the ever-changing cultural, economic and social challenges. He pointed out that ALECSO is keen to contribute to the empowerment of Arab societies in the knowledge, social and economic fields. To that end, ALECSO has implemented a number of activities and programs, including setting up a permanent advisory committee on scientific research and innovation, which it has sponsored since 2019, and establishing a general framework for scientific research in the social, economic and cultural fields.  Dr. Abu Darwish concluded by emphasizing that ALECSO will continue to work toward promoting a better future for Arab societies, and welcomes all initiatives in fields related to science and scientific research.
