H.E. Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director-General of ALECSO, chaired, on July 31, 2023, at ALECSO headquarters in Tunis, the closing ceremony of the “Museums Tour”, the final stage of the Arab Cultural Guide Program. The ceremony was attended by the Ambassadors of the Arab countries that took part in this program, representatives of the Program of the “ALECSO Ambassador Extraordinary for Arab Culture”, Sheikha Alyazia Bint Nahyan Al Nahyan, along with guests from Tunisia and abroad who participated in the competitions, training courses, and other activities held as part of this program.
This ceremony concluded the “Museums Tour” competition held under ALECSO’s supervision, with the winning museums being the Sebastia Museum (Palestine), the Sidi Mohammed ben Abdallah Museum (Morocco), and the Djerba Museum of Traditional Heritage (Tunisia).
The ceremony featured the unveiling of a memorial plaque containing the flags and names of the countries that participated in this competition, along with a presentation of the Museum Guide issued as part of this program. On this same occasion, the Sebastia Archaeological Museum was crowned (remotely), under the auspices of H.E. Mr. Hayel Al-Fahoum, Ambassador of the State of Palestine to the Republic of Tunisia, Mr. Saleh Tawafsha, Undersecretary of the Palestinian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, and Dr. Dawas Al-Dawas, Secretary-General of the Palestinian National Commission for Education, Culture and Science.
During this ceremony, ALECSO honored the winning museums and institutions, represented by the ambassadors of Arab States accredited to Tunisia and the Tunisian National Commission for Education, Science and Culture. Certificates of Participation were granted to some of the participants in the training course on cultural guidance, implemented as part of this program.
On the other hand, the Director-General announced the launch of the enrichment and development of the Arabic Inscriptions Portal, under ALECSO’s supervision, with the support of the UAE National Commission for Education, Culture and Science, and in cooperation with the ALECSO Ambassador Extraordinary for Arab Culture, after it was hosted on the official website of ALECSO and made available for all those interested in this field.
