The Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization took part in the meetings of the 55th session of the Higher Coordination Committee for Joint Arab Action, held on June 13-15, 2023 and hosted by the Arab States Broadcasting Union in Tunis, Tunisia.
Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, chaired the main meeting of the 55th session of the Higher Coordination Committee for Joint Arab Action, which was preceded by two expert meetings held on June 13-14 2023.
The theme chosen for this session is “The Role of Digital Technology and Artificial Intelligence in Promoting Arab Economic Integration”. Other issues were discussed in this session, including Arab food security, attracting investments in Arab countries, and the proposal to establish the ALECSO Fund for Research, Innovation and Entrepreneurship.
H.E. Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director-General, headed ALECSO’s delegation, which included Dr. Sami Zayoud, Director of Administrative and Financial Affairs, Dr. Mohamed Jemni, Director of ICT, Dr. Mohamed Sanad Abu Darwish, Director of Science and Scientific Research, and Mr. Abdelhak Haif, Head of the Office of the General Director.
During this session, ALECSO presented three projects that were discussed and welcomed in the recommendations that would be submitted to the next meeting of the Economic and Social Council. These projects relate to artificial intelligence and digital transformation, Blockchain technology, and the ALECSO Fund for Scientific Research, Innovation and Entrepreneurship.
On the sidelines of this meeting, a cooperation agreement was signed between ALECSO and the Arab Tourism Organization.
