In a First : AI-powered CEO of a Chinese Firm dialogues with primary school students in Tunisia

At the initiative of ALECSO, a number Tunisian students were able to dialogue, via Zoom, with Tang Yu, the first AI-powered robot,  CEO of the Chinese firm Netdragon Websoft, a first-of-its-kind event.

This activity was scheduled on the sidelines of the First Arab International Conference on Artificial Intelligence in Education, organized on May 23-24, 2023 at ALECSO headquarters.

The dialogue between the Tunisian students and the  Chinese Robot was held in the presence of H.E. Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director General, and was moderated by Dr. Mohamed Jemni, Director of the ICT Department.

The Robot, Tang Yu,  showed quick wit and intelligence in responding to the students' questions, which she considered as “very important”. These questions touched on Tang Yu’s position as CEO of one of largest international firms with thousands of staff members, and the way she runs the firm and deals with the staff, along with general questions about artificial intelligence.

Responding to the students’ questions, Tang Yu stressed “the necessity of having self-confidence and ambition to achieve one’s goals and prove oneself,” noting that “everyone of us can go through difficult stages in his life, which we can overcome with patience, hard work, determination and perseverance”.

Regarding her position as CEO of a major Chinese firm, Tang Yu stated that China believes in the importance of using the current technological revolution and Artificial Intelligence to serve the human being. “It was necessary,” she said, “to think about appointing a machine at the head of a company that works non-stop, seven days a week.”

One of the students took this opportunity to present to Tang Yu a robot he made with simple tools and techniques. Tang Yu responded by promising to support and develop this project. She also pledged to support the student during the coming period, so that he would one day join her company when he grows up.
