ALECSO Director-General receives Iraqi Minister of Culture, Tourism and Antiquities

 

H.E. Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director-General of ALECSO, received, on April 28, 2023 at ALECSO Headquarters, H.E. Dr. Ahmed Fakak Al-Badrani, Minister of Culture, Tourism and Antiquities of the Republic of Iraq.

The Director-General commended the longstanding cooperation between ALECSO and Iraq in the educational, cultural and scientific fields. He indicated, in this regard, that the Iraqi Poet Nazik Al-Malaika was chosen by ALECSO as a Symbol of Arab Culture for the current year.

The meeting addressed the joint inscription files currently being prepared under the supervision of Iraq. It also discussed coordination regarding the activities and events to be hosted by Iraq during the current year, including the closing event of the Arabic Manuscripts Day, to be organized jointly between the Institute of Arabic Manuscripts and the Iraqi Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Antiquities. 

The Iraqi Minister thanked the Director-General for providing this opportunity to visit the headquarters of ALECSO, and expressed appreciation of the significant role played by ALECSO as an Arab platform of expertise in the educational, cultural and scientific fields.  He indicated that Iraq stands ready to host more activities that will further promote joint Arab action. 

The meeting was attended by the delegation accompanying the Minister and the Iraqi Ambassador to Tunisia, H.E. Mr. Abdul-Hakim Al-Qassab. It was also attended by Dr. Mourad Mahmoudi, Secretary of the Executive Board and General Conference, Acting Director of the Culture Department, Dr. Fathi Jarray, Expert at the Culture Department, and Mr. Abdelhak Haif, Head of the Office of the Director-General.
