ALECSO Director-General participates in the celebration of the 65th anniversary of the Moroccan National Commission for Education, Science and Culture

H.E. Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director-General of ALECSO, took part, remotely, in the work of the Moroccan National Commission for Education, Science and Culture, held  in a regular session on March 29, 2023, under the chairmanship of Mr. Chakib Benmoussa, President of the National Commission, Minister of National Education, Preschool and Sports.

In his remarks on this occasion, the Director General stressed that Morocco’s continued hosting of events, conferences and workshops on education, culture and science reflects the confidence placed in ALECSO to implement its vision in these areas. He recalled in this regard that Morocco had kindly hosted, in June 2022, the first high-level meeting to publicize the updated Comprehensive Plan for Arab Culture.

The Director-General also indicated that Morocco will kindly host the 13th session of the Conference of Arab Education Ministers, scheduled to be held in Rabat in May 2023. This conference will address  key issues in connection with the development of Arab education systems and the efforts of Arab countries to follow up on the recommendations of the Transforming Education Summit, as part of their participation in the work of the High-Level Steering Committee in which they are represented by Morocco, Jordan and ALECSO.

The Director General commended the strong cooperation and partnership relations between the Moroccan National Commission and ALECSO, which enabled the implementation of various joint activities with educational and cultural institutions, to which Morocco provided all conditions of success. He indicated that ALECSO looks forward to further scaling up cooperation with the Moroccan National Commission in order to achieve shared goals in the educational, cultural and scientific fields, through the implementation of joint programs and projects set out in the first tranche of the Action Plan 2023-2028.

The Director-General noted that the launch of the “ALECSO Schools, Clubs and Chairs” initiative has strengthened communication between ALECSO and the Moroccan National Commission, and reinforced the Organization’s presence and visibility on the ground, which is the goal that ALECSO seeks to achieve with all its Member States through active cooperation with National Commissions.

At the end of the opening session, a framework agreement was signed between the Moroccan National Commission and the German Konrad-Adenauer Foundation, to develop cooperation between the two parties in the fields of education, science and culture.
