ALECSO attends workshop in Egypt for the development of the   Africa-Arab Cultural Institute

The General Secretariat of the League of Arab States hosted, on March 13-14, 2023, a workshop for the development of the Africa-Arab Cultural Institute.

This event was organized by the Africa-Arab Cultural Institute, with the participation of the Institute’s management, representatives from the relevant departments of the General Secretariat, the African Union Commission, and ALECSO, along with experts in African-Arab cultural affairs.

The workshop was designed to develop a viable action plan to overcome the challenges facing the Institute, address its current situation, review its statute, and brainstorm ideas about ways of its development.

The workshop was inaugurated by Amb. Dr. Khaled bin Mohammed Manzalawi, Assistant Secretary-General for International Political Affairs at the League of Arab States, who underlined the importance of the Institute as a key institution of Arab-African cooperation. He stressed the need to develop the Institute and provide it with all necessary support so that it can effectively play its role in promoting rapprochement among Arab and African peoples.

A mid-term review of the Strategic Plan 2021-2024 was also undertaken, and steps were proposed to implement Resolution No. 5 of the Fourth Arab-African Summit, so that the Institute would best contribute to enhancing cultural cooperation.

ALECSO was represented in this workshop by Dr. Sami Zayoud, Director of the Administrative and Financial Department at ALECSO.
