H.E. Dr. Hamad Abdulwahab Hamad Al-Adwani, Minister of Education, Higher Education and Scientific Research of the State of Kuwait, and President of the Kuwaiti National Commission for Education, Culture and Science, received H.E. Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director-General of ALECSO, on the occasion of his participation in the Qurain Cultural Festival, hosted by Kuwait on March 13-14, 2023.
The Director-General reviewed, on this occasion, the first tranche of ALECSO’s Action Plan (2023-2028), and indicated that the Organization is keen to implement various activities with relevant Kuwaiti institutions. He commended the significant role played by the State of Kuwait and its continuous support to ALECSO, as well as its keen interest in promoting joint Arab action in ALECSO’s areas of competence, including in education, higher education and scientific research, through its positive and effective participation in the council and committee meetings and in the various events convened by the Organization.
Dr. Ould Amar seized this occasion to express his appreciation and gratitude for the State of Kuwait for all the support it had provided to ALECSO under the directorship of the late Dr. Abdullah Muhareb, and then Dr. Saud Hilal Al-Harbi, both of whom left an indelible mark in the work of the ALECSO and in joint Arab action. He also extended thanks to the State of Kuwait for supporting his candidacy for a second term as Director-General of ALECSO.
Dr. Ould Amar also took this opportunity to invite the Kuwaiti Minister to pay a visit to ALECSO headquarters, and also to participate in the Conference of Arab Culture Ministers, to be held in May 2023 in Rabat, Morocco, as well as in the Conference of Arab Ministers of Higher Education and Scientific Research, to take place in December 2023 in Dubai, UAE. He also suggested that the State of Kuwait take the initiative to host the Organization’s forthcoming ministerial conferences.
The Director-General commended, during this meeting, the role of the Kuwaiti National Commission for Education, Culture and Science, and highlighted the role expected from its new Secretary-General, Mr. Ali Hassan Ali, to further strengthen relations and cooperation between ALECSO and the relevant Kuwait ministries and institutions in all ALECSO’s fields of action.
For his part, the Kuwaiti Minister reviewed his country’s efforts to develop the sectors of education, higher education and scientific research, and highlighted the successes and achievements made in these fields at the Arab, regional and global levels.
At the end of the meeting, the Director General offered the “ALECSO Shield” to the Kuwaiti Minister of Education, Higher education and Scientific Research.
The Director-General was accompanied in this visit by Dr. Mourad Mahmoudi, Secretary of the Executive Board and General Conference and Acting Director of the Culture Department, and Mr. Abdelhadi Ghemari, Program Coordinator at the Culture Department.
