The Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO) took part, on February 26, 2023, in the Arab Sustainability Day, held at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States in Cairo, Egypt, under the theme of “Pioneers of Sustainability in the Arab Region”.
The event was opened by H.E. Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States.
A number of Arab and international personalities active in the field of sustainable development were honored during this event which also featured a discussion session on entrepreneurship in the era of sustainability, along with a presentation of the “Sustainability Competition”, designed to encourage entrepreneurs and small businesses to develop new products and services that respond to the needs of sustainability. The event was also an opportunity to consider creating a platform to raise awareness in Arab societies about climate change issues and promote sustainability actions.
Dr. Mohamed Mustafa Kamal, Director of the Cairo-based Institute of Arab Research and Studies, was mandated by H.E. Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director-General of ALECSO, to represent the Organization in this event.
