The General Conference of the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization held, on February 18, 2023, its 8th extraordinary session in Nouakchott, Mauritania.
The meeting was chaired by H.E. Dr. Ibrahim Namis Al-Jubouri, Iraqi Minister of Education and President of the General Conference, and was attended by Heads of Delegations and Ambassadors.
H.E. Mr. Hani Al-Moqbel, Chairman of the Executive Board of ALECSO, and H.E. Mr. Muhammad Khair, Minister Plenipotentiary, Director of the Department of Arab Organizations and Federations in the League of Arab States, were also in attendance.
The General Conference :
- Expressed appreciation to the President, Government and people of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania for having kindly hosted the 8th extraordinary session of the General Conference, and conveyed a message of thanks to His Excellency the President of the Republic;
- Commended the valuable and appreciated efforts made by H.E. Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director-General of ALECSO, during his first term in office, and extended thanks to him and to his assistants.
- Decided unanimously to renew confidence in Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar for a second four-year term as Director-General of ALECSO, as of May 18, 2023.
