The Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization took part in the opening of the “International Conference and Exhibition for Science” (ICES2023), organized by the College of Science at King Saud University, Saudi Arabia, on February 6-8, 2023.
The Conference, attended by 6700 participants from 88 countries, addressed key themes, including the future of energy, applied materials, natural resources, space sciences, environment and quality of life, biotechnologies, and the role of women in science. A number of specialized seminars and workshops were held as part of this event.
ALECSO was represented by Dr. Mohammad Sanad Abu Darwish, Director of Science and Scientific Research, who participated as a speaker in the Symposium of the Arab Awards Forum entitled “Arab Awards and their Impact on Promoting Scientific Research”.
Dr. Abu Darwish conveyed the greetings of Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director-General of ALECSO, to the President of King Saud University which, as a prestigious scientific and academic institution at the Arab and international levels, constitutes a source of pride for ALECSO. Greetings were also extended to the organizers of this event.
Dr. Abu Darwish offered a brief overview about ALECSO’s mandate, vision and goals, as well as the awards it has established to encourage young Arab researchers and innovators. Foremost among these are the ALECSO Award for Young Arab Researchers and Innovators (launched in 2011), along with the Olympiads and competitions designed to enhance innovation and scientific awareness among Arab children. Dr. Abu-Darwish also touched on ALECSO’s future projects designed to consolidate scientific research concepts and methods, including the Arab Innovation Camp that the Organization will implement this year.
Dr. Abu Darwish indicated that ALESCO stands fully ready to cooperate with all relevant Arab and international bodies and institutions to meet shared goals in the field of science and scientific research.
The Exhibition featured key publications of ALECSO within the Pavilion devoted to Arab institutions granting scientific research awards, which attracted a large number of visitors.
