H.E. Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, received, on February 7, 2023 in his office in Cairo, H.E. Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director-General of ALECSO.
Both sides discussed a range of issues related to ALECSO’s fields of action. The Secretary-General commended the role of ALECSO in promoting joint Arab action in the educational, cultural and scientific fields, through the continued implementation of its activities in Member States. He also hailed the role of the specialized subsidiary institutions. He reaffirmed the General Secretariat's continued support for ALECSO so that it can pursue its mandate in the best conditions.
For his part, the Director-General thanked the Secretary-General for his constant support for the Organization. He presented the main projects that will be launched at the beginning of the current year, as part of the first tranche of the Action Plan 2023-2028. He also addressed the initiatives designed for countries with special needs, especially in terms of building capacities in the Arabic language and providing educational means and programs to enable students and teachers to acquire life skills and qualifications.
