An official ALECSO delegation, headed by Dr. Sami Zayoud, Director of Administrative and Financial Affairs, participated, on January 24-25, 2023, at the meetings of the 54th session of the Higher Coordination Committee for Joint Arab Action, at expert level, held in Abu Dhabi, UAE, and at the meeting chaired by the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, H.E. Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, on January 26, 2023.
Items on the meetings’ agenda included :
- Follow-up on the implementation of the resolutions of the 53rd session of the Higher Coordination Committee for Joint Arab Action, held in Tunis on May 29-31, 2022.
- Arab food security under climate change.
- Outcomes of the 31st Arab Summit, hosted by Algeria in November 2022.
- Outcomes of the Climate Change Conference (COP 27), held in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt, in November 2022.
Also on the agenda were the initiatives and projects of joint Arab action organizations and institutions, in preparation for the forthcoming Arab Economic and Social Development Summit, scheduled for this year in Nouakchott, Mauritania.
In this regard, ALECSO submitted the initiative relating to the “Arab Plan for Education in Times of Emergency and Crisis”, which had been previously approved by the Executive Board and the General Conference of ALECSO, and will be presented at the Arab Economic and Social Development Summit. It also put forward other proposals relevant to its fields of action, which were presented to the Expert Committee for consideration.
