ALECSO concludes 3rd  Conference of Arab Ministers and Senior Officials in charge of Technical and Vocational Education and Training

 

H.E. Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director-General of ALECSO, and H.E. Dr. Yacine Merabi, Algerian Minister of Vocational Training and Education, chaired the closing session of the 3rd Conference of Arab Ministers and Senior Officials in charge of Technical and Vocational Education and Training, held on December 26, 2022 at the International Conference Center in Algiers, Algeria.

The closing session was attended by Arab ministers and senior officials in charge of the TVET sector, along with representatives from relevant national, Arab and regional organizations and federations.

The conference unanimously adopted the following recommendations:

  1. Increase attention to the TVET sector in Arab policies and legislations;
  2. Align TVET curricula with relevant global standards and specifications;
  3. Direct studies and research toward serving and promoting the TVET sector in the Arab world;
  4. Keep pace with digital transformation in the TVET sector;
  5. Ensure equal opportunities for access to TVET for all segments of society;
  6. Incorporate “green economy” concepts into TVET curricula;
  7. Establish mechanisms to support qualified youth projects;
  8. Develop the TVET infrastructure;
  9. Support Somalia to leverage successful TVET experiences, with ALECSO undertaking coordination and providing the needed technical support;
  10. Call on ALECSO and the UNESCO Regional Center of Quality and Excellence in Education to incorporate TVET quality into the “Arab Model for Quality and Excellence in Education” project;
  11. Call on ALECSO and the Association of Arab Universities to coordinate with the concerned Arab countries for providing training to the relevant personnel in designing national TVET frameworks in accordance with the Joint Arab Qualifications Reference Framework;
  12. Call on ALECSO to develop, in cooperation with Member States, an electronic TVET platform to serve as a digital incubator that stimulates creativity and innovation;
  13. Develop a TVET terminology guide.
