ALECSO participates in the   “Conference of Supervisors of Palestinian Affairs in Arab Host Countries”

 

 

The Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization took part in the 109th  session of the Conference of Supervisors of Palestinian Affairs in Arab Host Countries”, held at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States on December 25, 2022.

In his statement to the Conference, delivered on his behalf by Dr. Mohamed Kamal, Director of the Cairo-based Institute of Arab Research and Studies, H.E. Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director-General of ALECSO, stressed that ALECSO is keen to regularly participate in meetings and councils concerned with Palestinian affairs, especially those related to education.

The Director-General recalled that ALECSO has been committed, since its inception, to defending and supporting the Palestinian Cause and mobilizing support for it in regional and international forums.  ALECSO has translated its commitment towards the State of Palestine through sustainable programs and projects in the fields of education, culture and science. ALECSO has called on Arab States to incorporate Al-Quds, with its history and landmarks, into school and university curricula. It has also allocated classes in Arab schools to publicize Al-Quds and its heritage. ALECSO devotes a portion of its budget to support Palestinian educational or cultural projects, and to develop educational programs targeted at Arab students in the occupied Arab territories, in addition to grants allocated to Palestinian students in ALECSO’s subsidiary institutions, especially the Institute of Arab Research and Studies.

The Conference discussed a range of issues, including particularly the Cause of Al-Quds, the apartheid wall, Palestinian refugees, UNRWA and its financial situation, and development in the Palestinian territories.
