ALECSO’s Second International Conference on Arabic Language concludes



 

The Second International Conference on “The Arabic Language and Human Cultural Diversity”, was concluded on December 21, 2022. 

The Conference was attended by senior officials and representatives from relevant international and Arab organizations, including UNESCO, the Arab Bureau of Education for the Gulf States, and the Regional Center of Quality and Excellence in Education, along with 50  academics and experts from Arab and foreign academic institutions.

The papers presented during the Conference addressed a range of themes and topics, including :

  • Efforts of Arab and international organizations to enhance the role of Arabic in promoting the values of dialogue and communication;
  • The empowerment of the Arabic language;
  • Ways of promoting the dissemination of the Arabic language;
  • The Arabic language between linguistic pluralism and cultural diversity.

 

The conference came out with a set of recommendations, including in particular : 

  • Pursue action to enhance communication, interaction and cooperation between the Arab culture and other cultures of the world, and uphold the values of diversity and openness;
  • Empower the Arabic language by promoting its wide use and its computerization, and develop the production of Arabic digital content;
  • Establish a framework of reference for improving the quality of Arabic-language learning, teaching, and assessment;
  • Create a database that includes the outputs of Arabic language academies;
  • Develop Arabic-language curricula and teaching strategies; promote Arabization, translation and authorship; and leverage new technologies and adopt modern methods to measure performance in Arabic-language acquisition;
  • Spread the Arabic language in countries surrounding the Arab region, and coordinate with embassies, cultural missions, and consulates to enhance Arabic-language education and promote translation from and into Arabic (Chinese, Spanish, Arabic).
