The ALECSO Observatory released, in December 2022, its 8th Statistical Bulletin on “The state of scientific research in the Arab countries in comparison with other regions of the world.”
The Bulletin provides data and indicators on scientific research in the Arab region and around the world, and its role in promoting sustainable development. It sheds light on the efforts made to strengthen linkages between universities, research laboratories and economic businesses, which are still weak in some Arab countries.
In terms of research and development, the Bulletin highlights the poor infrastructure available for theoretical and applied research in some Arab countries, as a result of the low level of spending on scientific research.
