As part of his visit to the State of Qatar to take part in the “Forum of Organizations from Local to Global", organized by the Qatari Ministry of Culture on December 12-13, 2022, under the slogan “Our Unity is the Source of Our Strength”, H.E. Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director-General of ALECSO, was received by H.E. Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Hamad Al Thani, Minister of Culture of the State of Qatar.
The Qatari Minister thanked the Director-General for this visit, and expressed appreciation of ALECSO’s significant efforts and dedication to strengthen and scale up cooperation between the Ministry and the Organization. He urged ALECSO to pursue action toward further promoting the role of culture as a key driver of educational and scientific development.
The Minister highlighted Qatar’s outstanding success in organizing the 2022 World Cup, an event through which it has succeeded in publicizing and conveying a bright image about the authentic Arab culture in general, and the Qatari culture in particular.
For his part, the Director-General of ALECSO reiterated his thanks to the State of Qatar for hosting the Organization’s delegation to participate in the “Forum of Organizations” and for providing all conditions to ensure the success of the Forum. He took this opportunity to renew his congratulations to the State of Qatar for its brilliant success in organizing the World Cup.
The Director-General reviewed the activities carried out jointly with the State of Qatar in the cultural field, and congratulated the Qatari Minister on the inscription of the “Date palm” to the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage. He also indicated that efforts are under way to complete the procedures for Qatar’s accession to the “Arabic Calligraphy” file before the end of March 2023.
At the close of meeting, the Director-General reiterated his thanks to the State of Qatar for its continuous support to the Organization and its keen interest in strengthening cooperation between the two parties. He also stressed ALECSO’s commitment to pursue joint action with all relevant ministries in Qatar in pursuit of shared goals.
