Saudi Minister of Culture and Director-General   meet and sign MoU on Cultural Cooperation

 

 

As part of his bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the 23rd Conference of Arab Culture Ministers, held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and organized by the Ministry of Culture jointly with ALECSO, H.H. Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan Al Saud, Minister of Culture of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, met with H.E. Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director-General of ALECSO. 

During the meeting, the two sides signed a Memorandum of Understanding to enhance cooperation in various fields of cultural action, including the inscription of natural sites and tangible and intangible heritage elements on UNESCO’s lists.

The Saudi Minister expressed, on this occasion, his thanks to ALECSO for its efforts and dedication to ensure the success of the Conference. He stressed that Saudi Arabia is proud of its strong partnership with ALECSO in various fields, which was recently embodied in ALECSO’s  support to the inscription of “Arabic Calligraphy” as a common Arab heritage element  on the UNESCO Intangible Heritage List. He also commended ALECSO’s efforts to support and promote the Arabic language in all Member States.

The meeting was attended by Mr. Rakan bin Ibrahim Al-Touq,  General Supervisor of Cultural Affairs and International Relations at the Ministry of Culture, Mr. Fahd bin Abdulrahman Al-Kanaan, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture for International Cultural Relations, Mr. Ahmed bin Abdulaziz Alblihed, Secretary-General of the Saudi National Commission, and Mr. Hani bin Moqbel Al-Moqbel, Chairman of the Executive Board of ALECSO.
