Saudi Arabia hosts meeting of the Standing Committee for Arab Culture

 

 

The meeting of the Standing Committee for Arab Culture, kindly hosted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, kicked off on December 5, 2022.

In his statement to the meeting, H.E. Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director-General of ALECSO,  welcomed all participants and thanked the King, Crown Prince, Government and people of Saudi Arabia for the warm welcome and generous hospitality,  and for all the efforts made by the Kingdom to ensure the success of the meeting. He commended the significant work performed by Standing Committee for Arab Culture to promote joint Arab cultural action. 

The presidency of the Bureau of the Committee was handed over from the United Arab Emirates to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The State of Palestine continued to serve as  Vice-President and the Kingdom of Morocco as Rapporteur.

The meeting discussed various items, including :

  1. Progress in implementing the resolutions of the 22nd Conference of Arab Culture Ministers (Dubai, UAE – December 2021)
  2. The Key theme of the 23rd Conference : “Culture and the Green Future”
  3. The 9th Arab Poetry Day (2023)
  4. Symbols of Arab culture for the year 2023
  5. Capitals of Arab Culture for the year 2023
  6. Member States’ proposals 
  7. Approval of the draft agenda of the 23rd Conference of Arab Culture Ministers.
