ALECSO Statement on the occasion of the   International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People

The Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO) commemorates, along with the whole international community, the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, whose annual observance on November 29th of each year, was called for, in 1977, by the General Assembly of the United Nations. On that day, in 1947, the Assembly adopted the resolution on the partition of Palestine.

ALECSO’s annual commemoration of the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People is an affirmation of the centrality of the Palestinian Cause to the Arab Nation. It offers a renewed opportunity to salute the steadfastness of the Palestinian people and their continued struggle to obtain their legitimate right to establish their independent State, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.

ALECSO stresses, on this occasion, that the international community is required to assume its moral, legal and humanitarian responsibilities, individually and collectively, towards the Palestinian people, so that they can obtain their legitimate and inalienable rights, and recover all of their occupied territories.

In this context, ALECSO confirms that it will pursue its efforts at all levels to support the State of Palestine in the fields of education, culture and science. It will also continue working with UNESCO to preserve the Palestinian heritage and have it inscribed on UNESCO’s World Heritage List, as well as to stand against the Israeli attacks on Palestinian heritage sites and monuments, especially in Al-Quds Al-Sharif.
