Dr. Mourad Rifi, Director of the Institute of Arabic Manuscripts, a subsidiary institution of ALECSO, took part in the 25th Conference of the Arab Council of the General Union of Arab Archaeologists, held on November 12-13, 2022 at the Union’s headquarters in Cairo.

In a statement on this occasion delivered on his behalf by Dr. Mourad Rifi,  the Director-General of ALECSO, Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, commended the efforts and successes of the Arab Council in terms of archaeological studies and research. He stressed that the outcomes of the conferences organized by the Council now serve as a reference in the field of archaeological studies. He noted that the main issue addressed by the Conference, namely the state of Arab archaeological sites amid current risks, is of crucial importance, given the threats to which many of these sites are exposed.  He indicated that ALECSO pays great attention to the heritage preservation program, and works to ensure its proper implementation, by identifying risks and sensitizing all relevant stakeholders about their damaging effects on heritage sites.
