ALECSO’s activities kick off in Djerba, ahead of 18th  Francophonie Summit

 

The two-day activities planned by the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization, ahead of the Francophonie Summit (Djerba, Tunisia - November 19-20, 2022), kicked off on November 13, 2022, under the title: “Calligraphy, Shared Memory, Living Heritage and Diverse Art”.

One of these activities involved an exhibition that was inaugurated by H.E. Dr. Hayat Guermazi, Tunisian Minister of Cultural Affairs, and Ms. Haoua Acyl, Representative of the International Organization of La Francophonie for North Africa, in the presence of members of the diplomatic corps accredited to Tunisia and Ministers from the States participating in the Summit.

Dr. Mourad Mahmoudi, Secretary of the Executive Board and General Conference, Acting Director of the Culture Department, attended this event as representative of H.E. Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director-General of ALECSO.

Mr. Mahmoudi briefed the Minister and the OIF representative on the paper copy of the Guide entitled : “Calligraphy, Shared Memory, Living Heritage and Diverse Art”, which included a foreword by H.E. Mr. Kais Saied, President of the Republic of Tunisia, and a preface by Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director-General of ALECSO. 

The Tunisian Minister and her accompanying delegation visited the various sections of the exhibition (Art Section, Heritage Section). She watched excerpts from the electronic version of the Guide, and excerpts from a documentary film on Arabic calligraphy in Tunisia. She concluded her tour by visiting the Open Workshops section of the exhibition.
