ALECSO hosts First International Scientific Forum of the ALECSO Chair for International Commercial Arbitration

In his statement at the opening of the First International Scientific Forum of the ALECSO Chair for International Commercial Arbitration, entitled: “International Commercial Arbitration Today : Transformations and Developments”, held on November 8, 2022 at ALECSO headquarters, H.E. Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director-General of ALECSO, stressed that “the contribution of this Chair, and other ALECSO Chairs whose number currently amounts to 33, is instrumental in enabling the Organization to perform its mandate as best as possible.” “These Chairs,” he added,  “provide an indispensable scientific support that enhances the role of ALECSO as a house of expertise in the fields of education, culture, science, and ICT.” He indicated, in this context, that “the Organization is keen to ensure the quality of its programs, projects and activities, so that they can best benefit the Arab countries and the whole world.”

The Director-General insisted that “ALECSO expects much from Arab scholars and experts at a time marked by intensifying conflicts and  increasing challenges”. He highlighted, in this regard, “the need to consolidate Arab and international capabilities, to pool research capacities, and to leverage the creative scientific genius in order to serve Sustainable Development Goals, promote international peace and security, and to emerge safely from crises, emergencies and conflicts.”

This three-day forum was held in collaboration with the Faculty of Law and Political Sciences (University of Tunis El Manar) and the ALECSO Chair for International Commercial Arbitration at the Faculty of Law. It was attended by the directors of ALECSO Chairs, along with a number of professors, researchers, students, and media professionals.
