H.E. Dr. Yousef Al-Benyan, Minister of Education of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, received, on October 26, 2022, at the seat of the Ministry, H.E. Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director-General of ALECSO.
The meeting was attended by H.E. Mr. Hani bin Moqbel Al-Moqbel, President of the Executive Board of ALECSO, H.E. Mr. Ahmed bin Abdulaziz Alblihed, Secretary-General of the Saudi National Commission for Education, Culture and Science, along with the Ministry officials.
The Saudi Minister commended the valuable work performed by ALECSO at the Arab and international levels, and the significant level of cooperation and partnership between ALECSO and Saudi institutions. He stressed the need to support the Organization, so that it can continually serve as an Arab platform of expertise in the educational, cultural and scientific fields.
The Saudi Minister highlighted the challenges facing education, especially after the COVID-19 crisis, and insisted on the need to promote the use of artificial intelligence and distance education, as well as to build teacher capacity in the use of modern technologies.
For his part, the Director-General congratulated the Saudi Minister on his appointment to this position, wishing him all success in his work in the service of future generations. He offered a brief overview about the activities and programs currently implemented by ALECSO, insisting on the need to pay more attention to educational curricula and teacher capacity-building, as well as to the field of culture, being a key driver for enhancing education.
The Director-General seized this opportunity to express his thanks to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, and to HRH Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, for the continuous support to the Organization and for Saudi Arabia’s hosting of the Conference of Arab Culture Ministers.
At the end of the meeting, the two sides agreed to work toward further boosting cooperation and partnership between ALECSO and Saudi institutions in pursuit of shared goals.
