ALECSO organizes in Nouakchott a Training Workshop on “Inventorying Intangible Cultural Heritage and Preparing Nomination Files for Inscription on UNESCO’s Heritage Lists"

 

 

The Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization held, on October 23-25,  2022, in Nouakchott, Mauritania, a training workshop on “Inventorying Intangible Cultural Heritage and Preparing Nomination Files for Inscription on UNESCO’s Heritage Lists”. 

The workshop was an opportunity to highlight the contribution of ALECSO to the preservation of intangible cultural heritage in the Arab countries, and to the preparation of joint Arab nomination files to be submitted for inscription on UNESCO’s heritage lists. 

The workshop addressed various relevant themes, including :

  • Intangible Cultural Heritage in Mauritania; 
  • The state of cultural heritage documentation and inventorying;
  • The role of civil society in safeguarding intangible cultural heritage;
  • Techniques and stages for preparation of joint nomination files for inscription on UNESCO’s  Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage.
