ALECSO celebrates first edition of the World Novel Week in Paris

 

 

The Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization is taking part, jointly with the Tunisian Ministry of Cultural Affairs and the Katara  Cultural Village Foundation, in celebrating the launch of the first edition of the World Novel Week, held on October 13 - 20, 2022 at UNESCO headquarters in Paris, France.

Opening statements were delivered by Dr. Mohamed Jemni, Director of ICT Department at ALECSO, on behalf of H.E. Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director-General of ALECSO, as well as by H.E. Hayat Guermazi, Minister of Cultural Affairs of the Republic of Tunisia, and Dr. Khalid  Al-Sulaiti,  General Manager of Katara Cultural Village Foundation.

Following the opening statements, the winners of the 8th edition of the Katara Prize for Arabic Novel were officially announced.

A seminar was organized on this occasion entitled: “The Universality of Fiction and Translation”, moderated by the novelist Fethia Debbech. Presentations were made by the critic and translator Ezzeddine Enaya, the novelist Habib Selmi, the translator Bechir Garbouj, and the publisher and translator Farouk Mardam Bey.
