The Institute of Arabic Manuscripts signs Cooperation Agreement   with the National Center for Research in Sudan

A cooperation agreement was signed between the Institute of Arabic Manuscripts, a Cairo-based subsidiary  institution of ALECSO, and the Medicinal and Aromatic Plants and Traditional Medicine Research Institute (MAPTMRI), National Center for Research, Khartoum, Sudan. The signing ceremony was held virtually on October 10, 2022.

Dr. Mourad Rifi, Director of the Institute, conveyed to all those present the greetings of H.E. Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director-General of ALECSO. He welcomed Dr. Zainab Othman, Director of the National Center for Research, and the directors of the subsidiary institutes and bodies. 

Dr. Rifi offered a brief presentation of the Institute and its longstanding academic, research and scientific activities.  He highlighted Sudan’s rich heritage in terms of medicinal and aromatic plants, which can be leveraged to serve comprehensive local development. He stressed the importance of making the Institute’s academic system open to researchers from Sudan, and training them to invest in the Arabic heritage manuscript as optimally as possible. He stressed that the Institute will actively work to implement all aspects of this agreement, including joint workshops and training and education activities. 

Dr. Khaled Moussa, Director of MAPTMRI, and Dr. Tayeb Abdellatif, Director of External Relations at the National Center for Research, offered statements in which they presented the work of the Center and its affiliated institutes.

For her part, Dr. Zainab Othman, Director of the National Center for Research, made a brief presentation of the Center, and thanked Dr. Mourad Rifi for his continuous efforts to enhance the Institute’s performance and promote its openness to scientific and research institutions.
