The Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO) took part in the “Open Education and Artificial Intelligence Forum”, held in Beijing, China, on August 18, 2022.
The Forum is part of the Global Smart Education Conference, held in partnership between the Smart Learning Institute at Beijing Normal University, the Open University of China, and the Beijing Information Technology and Technical Education College.
The Forum highlights the significant role that Artificial Intelligence plays in the field of education, and the great potential it provides for the promotion of Open Education.
Among the questions addressed in the Forum are the following :
- How can Open Education be promoted through Artificial Intelligence?
- What are the advantages and limitations of e-learning-based systems in Open Education?
- How can a more inclusive and equitable education be promoted through Open Education and Artificial Intelligence?
- How can the incorporation of Artificial Intelligence increase or reduce learners’ demand for Open Education?
ALECSO was represented in this Forum by Dr. Mohamed Jemni, Director of the ICT Department. In his keynote statement, Dr. Jemni highlighted ALECSO’s efforts and projects designed to promote the use of Artificial Intelligence in education. These projects, he indicated, are focused on innovative learning and teaching methods, as well as on the increased role of e-learning and Open Education systems in reducing technological gaps within and between Arab countries.
