Egyptian Minister of Higher Education   discusses ways to enhance cooperation with ALECSO

 



H.E. Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research of the Republic of Egypt, and President of the Egyptian National Commission for Education, Science and Culture, received, on July 19, 2022 at the seat of the Ministry, H.E. Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director-General of ALECSO,  to discuss ways of boosting cooperation between the Ministry and the Organization.

The Minister commended the significant role played by ALECSO in preserving Arab culture and promoting education in the Arab world, noting that the Organization is steadily moving forward in achieving its mandate in the educational, cultural and scientific fields, in line with its strategies, work plans, and the recommendations and decisions issued by its Ministerial Conferences. He expressed willingness to step up cooperation with ALECSO in various fields, indicating that Egypt stands ready to provide all the needed support for the activities and programs undertaken by the Organization.

The Minister called on the Organization to focus its programs on promoting the revival and preservation  of the tangible and intangible cultural heritage, enhancing contemporary Arab cultural creativity, protecting the rights of Arab artists and creators, supporting Arab cultural institutions, and promoting the teaching of basic sciences and mathematics.

The two sides reviewed the main programs and activities that will be implemented by the Organization in the coming period. They also discussed the preparation of an agreement between the Ministry and the Organization regarding the ALECSO-affiliated Institute of Arab Research and Studies.

For his part, the Director-General underlined the significant achievements of Egypt in the fields of education, culture and science. He commended, in this regard, Egypt’s higher education system and the remarkable progress that Egypt and its educational and cultural institutions are witnessing under the leadership of President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi. He stressed the importance of further strengthening cooperation with Egypt in all ALECSO’s fields of action.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Mohamed Latif, Secretary of the Supreme Council of Universities, Dr. Dalia Khalil, Assistant Secretary of the Supreme Council of Universities, Dr. Mohamed Kamal, Director of the Institute of Arab Research and Studies, and Mr. Abdelhak Haif, Head of the Office of the Director-General of ALECSO.
