The Institute of Arab Research and Studies, a subsidiary institution of ALECSO, has recently released a book entitled : “Communication without Communicating: Social Media and Its Impact on the Arab World”, authored by Dr. Jalal Zenati.
The book addresses the impact of Social Media on the Arab national security, including cybersecurity, with focus on the spread of terrorist groups, during the period after 2011, which took advantage of the state of instability in some Arab countries in a way that significantly affected and threatened their national security.
The book highlights the spread of Social Media networks, now called the new alternative media, and how they have changed the nature of social relations and increased political participation, especially amid the wave of democratic transition and political change in the Arab World.
The book tackles other aspects of this issue and provides forward-looking visions that are worthy of in-depth research.
