Under the chairmanship of H.E. Director-General Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (Science and Scientific Research Department) held, virtually on June 21, 2022, the founding meeting of the Scientific-Technical Unit of the Framework Plan for Arab Scientific Research in the Social, Cultural and Economic fields.
In his opening remarks, the Director-General stressed that ALECSO has always been striving to upgrade the system of scientific research, development and innovation in the Arab world, so that it can effectively contribute to the process of economic, social and cultural development, and promote transition into the knowledge-based society.
The meeting was attended by representatives from the partner institutions, members of the Scientific Unit, namely the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States, the Association of Arab Universities, and the Federation of Arab Scientific Research Councils. It was also attended by Dr. Faouzi Ben Dridi, Scientific Coordinator of the Unit, along with the representatives of ALECSO’s Science and Scientific Research Department and Education Department.
The meeting discussed the following items:
- The draft internal rules for the Scientific Unit;
- The draft follow-up schedule and task distribution among partners;
- Funding proposals for the implementation of the executive plan in the Arab countries.
