H.E. Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director-General of ALECSO, took part virtually, on May 31, 2022, in the informal consultative meeting for the Arab region and West Asia, in preparation for the “Transforming Education Summit”, scheduled to be held in New York in September 2022. The meeting was hosted by the State of Qatar, jointly with the Office of the Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations and the Education Above All Foundation.
Addressing the meeting, the Director-General highlighted ALECSO’s initiatives in response to the COVID-19 crisis, which involved providing the needed electronic platforms to ensure the continuity of learning in some Arab countries that were affected by the pandemic. He indicated that ALECSO is working, jointly with its partners, to develop a future program aimed at bridging the digital divide within some Arab societies. This program involves the provision of Internet-connected computers for learning and teaching purposes, and is thus designed to promote the culture of digital learning.
The Director-General pointed out that ALECSO is preparing to launch, during the forthcoming “Transforming Education Summit”, under Thematic Action Track 4 on Digital Learning and Transformation, a global initiative for international digital solidarity entitled : “A computer for every student and every teacher for learning and teaching purposes.”
