ALECSO Director-General inaugurates “Arab Children’s Literature Forum”

 

H.E. Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director-General of ALECSO, opened, on May 24, 2022, at ALECSO headquarters, the “Arab Children’s Literature Forum”, jointly organized by the “Arab Mustapha Azouz Prize for Children’s Literature”, ALECSO, and the Arab Tunisian Bank. The Forum was attended by writers, critics, experts, and young novelists from Tunisia, Algeria, Egypt, and Morocco.

In his opening remarks, Dr. Ould Amar underlined the importance of this educational and cultural event, especially in terms of promoting literary creativity aimed at children in the Arab countries. He indicated that travel literature, the theme chosen for this Forum, had been attached special attention in Arab culture, and highlighted, in this regard, the significant role played by travel writers and geographers in promoting communication and rapprochement between the peoples of the Mashreq and the Maghreb, and in transmitting knowledge and sciences. He took this opportunity to specifically commend the efforts of Tunisia and the valuable role played by Tunisian writers and thinkers over the ages in promoting communication and interaction among peoples and cultures. 

This event takes place over two days : Day 1 is devoted to the presentation of scientific papers on the theme of the Forum. Day 2 is devoted to a technical workshop on “Writing for Children and Youth”, and to the Award ceremony of the 13th “Arab Mustapha Azouz Prize for Children’s Literature”.
