ALECSO participates in the Council of Europe Conference of Culture Ministers

 

 

At the invitation of the Italian Presidency of the Council of Europe Committee of Ministers, the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO) participated, remotely, in the Council of Europe Conference of Culture Ministers, held on April 1, 2022 in Strasbourg, France. ALECSO was represented in this event by Dr. Fethi Jerray, Expert at the Culture Department, and Mrs. Nesrin Ghnaim, External Relations Officer.

In his statement on his occasion, read out on his behalf by Dr. Fethi Jerray, Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director-General of ALECSO, underlined the importance of this Conference and expressed his appreciation that ALECSO was invited as an Observer. 

With regard to the Conference theme : “Creating our future: creativity and cultural heritage as strategic resources for a diverse and democratic Europe”, Dr. Ould Amar stressed the importance of cultural heritage as a source of creativity, especially in the field of cultural industries and digital cultural economy, which is receiving increasing attention by governments and specialized organizations.

Dr. Ould Amar reviewed some of ALECSO’s current and future programs and activities in the field of cultural heritage, indicating that the Organization stands ready to cooperate with all partners interested in this type of investment aimed at valuing cultural heritage in a creative manner and through the use of modern digital technologies.
