H.E. Dr. Wajih Aweys, Minister of Education, Higher Education and Scientific Research of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, received, on March 27, 2022, H.E. Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director-General of ALECSO.
The Minister welcomed the Director-General and thanked him for this visit which offers an opportunity for discussing cooperation between ALECSO and Jordan in all fields. He commended ALECSO’s activities and programs implemented for the benefit of all Arab countries, particularly its initiatives in response to COVID-19. He touched on the issue of education which he considered as a key component of ALECSO’s mandate, given the vital role of education in building Arab generations imbued with a passion for science, knowledge, leadership, innovation and excellence.
On his part, the Director-General thanked the Minister for providing this opportunity to discuss ways and means of promoting joint Arab action and of supporting the Organization to pursue its mandate in optimum conditions. He reviewed the recommendations adopted at the 18th session of the Conference of Arab Ministers of Higher Education and Scientific Research, held in Algeria on December 26-28, 2021. He also addressed the Arab University Ranking project, scheduled to be launched in the close future.
At the end of the meeting, it was agreed to pursue consultation and coordination between ALECSO and the Ministry, and to work jointly on following up the implementation of the Conference recommendations.
