The Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization hosted, on March 17-18, 2022, the International Scientific Symposium on “Arab-African Cooperation in Scientific Research and Sustainable Development”, jointly organized by the Africa-Arab Cultural Institute and ALECSO.

In his opening remarks, Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director-General of ALECSO, stressed the Organization’s support for scientific research efforts in the Arab and African region, given the vital importance of scientific research as a key driver of sustainable development and progress.

The Director-General indicated that scientific research should be granted high priority, insisting, in this regard, on the role of universities, scientific research institutions, and production and service institutions, in both the public and private sectors, in achieving sustainable development. He also pointed out that promoting the Arab-African partnership, especially in the cultural and scientific fields, falls in line with the current and future goals of ALECSO.

This symposium is part of the projects included in the cooperation and partnership agreement concluded between ALECSO and the Africa-Arab Cultural Institute, with the aim of strengthening and scaling up partnership between the two parties in areas of mutual interest.
