The Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization took part, on February 27, 2022, in the celebration of the Arab Cultural Heritage Day, held at the headquarters of the Arab League General Secretariat under the theme of “Jewelry in the Arab heritage”.
ALECSO was represented by Dr. Fethi Jarray who, in his address to the opening session, highlighted ALECSO’s efforts to protect the Arab Cultural Heritage. He presented the Organization’s approach in the field of intangible cultural heritage, and stressed the great interest it attaches to this type of heritage. He indicated that ALECSO’s work in this field involves providing training to relevant specialists and coordinating joint Arab files to be submitted for inscription on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, the latest of which being the “Engraving on Metals” file, prepared under the supervision of the Republic of Iraq and in coordination with ALECSO, which will be submitted by the end of March 2022.
