ALECSO Director-General receives a delegation from the UAE Ministry of Education 

 

 

H.E. Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director-General of ALECSO, received, on February 21, 2022, at ALECSO headquarters, a delegation from the Ministry of Education of the United Arab Emirates, headed by Sheikh Dr. Ammar Bin Nasser Al Mualla, Attaché for Education, Technology and Sciences in Tunis, and Mrs. Eman Ali Al Hosani, Technical Attaché at the Education and Technology Science Attaché Office in Cairo.

The Director-General offered a brief overview about the projects and programs of ALECSO’s technical departments and subsidiary institutions, as well as the activities jointly implemented with the UAE National Commission for Education, Culture and Science. He took this opportunity to express his appreciation of the excellent organization of the 22nd Conference of Arab Culture Ministers, convened in Dubai, UAE, in December 2021.

Foremost among the projected activities are : The Arab university ranking project; the establishment of a joint Arab Blockchain-based system for the protection of certificates; the Arab Translation Week; the use of Artificial Intelligence in education; the Arab Mathematics Olympiad; the ALECSO Olympiad for the Development of Arab Children’s Scientific Skills; and the Specialized ministerial conferences. 

On his part, Sheikh Dr. Ammar Bin Nasser Al Mualla commended ALECSO’s significant efforts to promote joint Arab action in its fields of competence. He reviewed the UAE 50-year Development Plan, which focuses on investing in knowledge and education, adopting Arab and global indicators, strengthening partnerships with research centers, attracting experts, sharing experiences among students, faculty and researchers, and providing wider opportunities for entrepreneurship and innovation.

The meeting explored the ways and means of scaling up cooperation between ALECSO and the UAE Ministry of Education in the field of education, ICT, investment in human skills, and participation in ALECSO’s relevant activities.

In the end, the two sides agreed to continue coordination and consultation in pursuit of shared goals.
