ALECSO’s Executive Board holds its 116th session 

 

 

Kindly hosted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the 116th session of ALECSO’s Executive Board kicked off on January 25, 2022, under the chairmanship of H.E. Mr. Hani bin Moqbel Al-Moqbel, President of the Executive Board, in the presence of H.E. Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director-General of ALECSO, and with the participation of representatives from 21 Member States.

The agenda items include, among others, the discussion of the draft Arab Strategy for Education in Times of Crisis and Emergency, the budget for the financial cycle 2023-2024, and the follow-up on the implementation of the 115th session’s resolutions.

In his opening remarks, the President of the Executive Board expressed his sincere thanks and gratitude to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz and HRH Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, for supporting the hosting of the 116th session of the Board in Saudi Arabia, 42 years after the session held in the city of Taif. He extended his thanks HH Prince Badr bin Farhan, Minister of Culture and President of the Saudi National Commission for Education, Culture and Science, for his support to ALECSO so that it can best fulfill its role in building cultural bridges between Arab peoples. He indicated that the present Board meeting constitutes a significant milestone in the life of the Organization, enhancing its status and fostering its role in pursuit of the desired goals.

On his part, Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar expressed his sincere thanks and deep appreciation to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and HRH Crown Prince, as well as to the Saudi Government and people, for the warm welcome and generous hospitality, and for the excellent conditions provided for holding this face-to-face meeting.  He highlighted ALECSO’s main achievements and accomplishments during the year 2021 despite the difficult circumstances imposed by COVID-19, indicating that the percentage of completion of activities amounts to 78%.
