Launch of Arab Code Week in Palestine

The Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO), in partnership with the Tunisian Association for Educational Initiatives and the Palestinian National Commission for Education, Culture and Science, launched, virtually, the second edition of the Arab Code Week 2022, organized by ALECSO under the theme of “Artificial Intelligence and Environmental Protection”.

Dr. Mohamed Jemni, Director of ICT Department, welcomed all participants, and underlined the significant efforts undertaken by ALECSO to spread the culture of programming in Arab societies. He indicated that this event is designed to enable teachers, students, and all those interested in modern technologies to unleash their full potential, by providing an exciting learning environment that helps to teach the basics of programming for all ages, especially young people. It thus offers them wide prospects to explore new disciplines, by involving them in software competitions, enhancing their scientific and educational skills, and thus enabling them to embrace creativity, excellence, leadership and innovation.  Dr. Jemni commended Palestine’s significant efforts in this qualitative Arab event, and called on all teachers to participate in this edition’s competitions and events.

Dr. Basri Saleh, Deputy Minister of Education, emphasized the importance of these creative initiatives in developing students’ skills in research and exploration, and the need to leverage the acquired skills to enhance the performance of teachers and students. He also took this opportunity to commend the continuing cooperation with ALECSO.

Dr. Dawas Dawas, Secretary-General of the Palestinian National Commission,  highlighted the support provided by the National Commission for the ACW initiative, and underlined the importance of this edition’s theme on environmental education, which acquires a special significance in the Palestinian national context.
