The ALECSO Observatory has released the 4th Statistical Bulletin for the year 2021 under the title : “The impact of COVID-19 on Education in the Arab Countries and Around the World.”
The Bulletin provides education-related data and indicators that show the considerable impacts of the pandemic on an entire generation. It indicates that several countries did not conduct student assessments at the end of the 2019-2020 school year, which led to a significant decrease in the number of repeaters. It also highlighted a significant increase in the number of school dropouts, with potential repercussions on the illiteracy rate in the Arab countries.
The Bulletin also includes a statistical analysis of a field study carried out by ALECSO in the Arab countries through a questionnaire that enabled the collection of data on the impacts of the pandemic on the continuity of education and learning and the actions taken in response to this situation.
