22nd Conference of Arab Culture Ministers Concludes

 

 

The 22nd session of the Conference of Arab Culture Ministers, convened in Dubai, UAE, concluded on December 20, 2021, in the presence of the heads of delegations and organizations. 

The second day of the Conference was devoted to the results of the review of the Comprehensive Plan for Arab Culture, the project of ALECSO Ambassadors for Arab Culture, the five-year action plan for the joint Arab files to be submitted for inscription on UNESCO’s intangible heritage list, the adoption of the recommendations of the Permanent Committee for Arab Culture, and the Joint Arab Cultural Project.

In his statement at the conclusion of the Conference, H.E. Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director-General of ALECSO, expressed his sincere thanks to the United Arab Emirates for the warm welcome, generous hospitality, and excellent organization of the Conference, which he considered as exceptional by all standards. He commended the in-depth discussions and exchanges that enriched the Conference, covering various issues pertaining to culture, heritage, Arabic language, poetry, theater, and others.

Dr. Ould Amar indicated that the current session of the Conference ushered in a new phase of cultural action in the Arab world, with the updating of the Comprehensive Plan for Arab Culture, especially amid the current global transformations, and thanks to the joint Arab cultural projects that will certainly strengthen inter-Arab cooperation and upgrade culture institutions and professionals. 

Dr. Ould Amar expressed satisfaction with the conclusions of the project for reviewing and updating the Comprehensive Plan for Arab Culture, and commended the Ministers’ insightful suggestions and contributions. He highlighted, in this regard, the magnitude of the challenges facing Arab culture, which necessitates increased cooperation and coordination, and more unified positions and policies.

Dr. Ould Amar reaffirmed that ALECSO will remain committed to supporting joint Arab projects, and will work to follow up and implement the outcomes of this Conference, especially the projects approved by Culture Ministers. ALECSO will also continue to promote Arab culture in all international fora, and to build bridges of cooperation and dialogue with all partners sharing the same principles and values.
