ALECSO Director-General participates in a press conference  ahead of 22nd Conference of Arab Culture Ministers

 

 

On the eve of the 22nd Conference of Arab Culture Ministers, scheduled to be held in Dubai, UAE, on December 19-20, 2021, H.E. Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director-General of ALECSO, gave a press conference jointly with the president of the previous session of the Conference, H.E. Dr. Enas Abdel Dayem, Egyptian Minister of Culture, and the President of the current session, H.E. Mrs. Noura Al Kaabi, UAE Minister of Culture and Youth.

During the press conference, Dr. Ould Amar highlighted :

 

  • The importance of the Conference of Arab Culture Ministers and its resolutions and recommendations in promoting joint Arab cultural action and in achieving cultural integration among Arab countries;
  • The significant role of ALECSO in promoting Arab cultural unity and ensuring its sustainability;
  • The main outcomes and goals of the process of reviewing and updating the Comprehensive Plan for Arab Culture amid the current global challenges, and the need to implement the Plan as a common framework for promoting joint Arab cultural action;
  • The strategic partnership between ALECSO and the United Arab Emirates, and the UAE’s contribution to promoting cultural integration among Arab countries;
  • The need to review the working mechanisms of Arab cultural institutions in order to better respond to current challenges, including those posed by the current global health crisis;
  • The main goals of the joint Arab cultural project, designed to meet the urgent needs of actors and workers in the fields of culture and heritage protection and valorization, and to strengthen the capacities of cultural institutions in Arab countries;
  • The current efforts to develop and restructure the work of the Conference of Arab Culture Ministers in order to bring it in line with the requirements of the current stage, especially in terms of cultural governance;
  • ALECSO’s efforts to promote a positive image of Arab culture at the international level, and to strengthen linkages between Arab culture and other world cultures; 
  • The role of culture in promoting the values ​​of dialogue and peace and in removing barriers among peoples and nations.
